If a candidate withdraws his name from the closed list, time will be given to add another one

Kathmandu. It is said that any candidate included in the closed list for the proportional system for the upcoming House of Representatives election can withdraw his name at the specified time and the relevant party can add another candidate in place of such withdrawal.

The Election Commission has said that it is working on the nominations received from 64 political parties on the 13th and 14th of February scheduled for the upcoming 21st of February.

According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the spokesperson of the Commission, after confirming that the inclusive groups are not found in the list according to the law, the relevant parties will be informed within 20th of January and then the parties will have to correct it and submit it again within 27th of January.

If any candidate in the submitted revised list wants to withdraw his name, he will be given time till 28th of January. The Commission will inform the concerned party about the candidate who has applied for withdrawal and the party will be allowed to send another candidate.

The closing list will be made public on January 4. According to the commission, if the general public objects to the claim that the candidates on that list are legally unqualified, the final list will be published on January 20 after investigation. The list will not change thereafter.
