Kathmandu. The newly appointed Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has announced that the process of withdrawing the criminal cases filed during the Gen-G movement will be taken forward. On assuming office in the ministry, he has decided to form a special task force to study this matter and make concrete recommendations.

Recently, cases have been filed against more than 935 people due to this movement and many youths are in pre-trial detention. The parents have been on continuous sit-in at Maitighar for the past one month demanding the release of their children. The parents also protested at the swearing-in ceremony of Minister Gurung.

Stating that the charges leveled against him can be dismissed, Minister Gurung has indicated that he will withdraw the protestors' case within the scope of the law and give a just solution. This decision of the government has brought a message of relief for the parents and protesters who have been agitating for a long time.
