This important agreement was made official in the presence of Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and his New Zealand counterpart Todd McLay. Which is considered as a big diplomatic and economic victory for the Indian economy and exporters in the world market. The most remarkable feature of this agreement is the speed of its construction. The talks that started on March 16, 2025 were completed within a short period of only nine months. With the implementation of the agreement, the tax imposed by New Zealand on Indian products will immediately be exempted by 100%, and the goods coming from New Zealand to India will not be taxed.

Currently, New Zealand is imposing 10 percent tax on about 450 items exported from India, now the export of Indian textiles, ready-made garments, leather industry, ceramics and vehicle parts will get a big boost.
