Filing of contempt of court complaint against Prime Minister

Main News Image

Kathmandu. A contempt case has been registered against Prime Minister Sushila Karki for not complying with the Supreme Court's interim order to keep the government's decision to recall the ambassador as is. Advocate Prem Silwal has filed a writ against Karki, who is also the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The hearing of the case is scheduled for November 7.

The government formed after the Genji movement decided to recall the ambassadors of 11 countries appointed by the previous government on October 30th. In the writ filed against that decision, the joint bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Srikant Paudel gave an interim order to keep the status quo without implementing the decision to recall the ambassador on October 16.

But the very next day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Prime Minister Karki called the ambassadors back and issued instructions to appear at the ministry. According to that instruction, the ambassadors have returned to the ministry. Out of the 11 ambassadors recalled by the government, 4 have resigned so far.
