Expensive lessons for the government due to lack of insurance, the loss of Gen-G movement exceeded 84 billion
Kathmandu. It is seen that the government itself has to bear the financial burden of the damage caused during the Gen-G movement due to the lack of insurance of government physical structures. According to the government report, more than 36 billion 300 million rupees will be spent only for the reconstruction, maintenance and purchase of new physical assets of public structures.
According to the reconstruction action plan, it is estimated that 36 billion 30 million 21 lakh rupees will be needed for the purchase and repair of damaged buildings, vehicles and other physical objects of the public sector. Out of this, 19.98 billion 98 million will be spent on building reconstruction and repair, 6.16 billion 168 million on vehicle purchase and repair and 10.14 billion 42 million rupees on other material materials.
According to the report prepared by the committee, physical damage worth 84 billion 457 million rupees has been caused throughout the country during the agitation. This amount is equivalent to 1.38 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and 4.30 percent of the current fiscal year's total budget.
Of the total damage, 53 percent was in the government and public sector, 40 percent in the private sector and the remaining 7 percent in the community and other sectors. According to the report, Bagmati province was the worst affected state, where 66.5 percent of the total damage was done.
Based on the amount, the damage in Bagmati province is equal to 56 billion 23 million rupees. After this, it seems that there was a loss of 10.24 billion in Koshi province, 5.99 billion in Lumbini, 4.92 billion in Madhesh, 4.1 billion in Gandaki, 2.40 billion in Far West and 62 billion in Karnali province.
The impct of the movement was not limited to structure. According to the report, the loss of production of goods and services has reached 13 billion 875 million rupees. Regarding employment, 2 thousand 999 people's employment has been directly affected, out of which 2 thousand 353 people have lost their jobs completely.
