Exoneration of co-operative fraudster Nike Lamichhane objectionable: Genji Movement

Main News Image

Kathmandu. Zenji Movement Nepal has strongly objected to the attempt to acquit Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of the National Independent Party RSVP, who has been accused of money laundering and organized crime along with co-operative fraud. The Genji Movement has accused the Susheela Karki-led government, which was formed through seizing the rebellion and the attorney general appointed by him, to have weakened the supremacy of the law by acquitting criminals.

The Movement believes that such an act is against democratic values, justice for the victims and responsibility of the state. According to the movement, they have demanded the immediate dismissal of Attorney General Savita Bhandari Baral after the illegal protection of the gang involved in the heinous crime of selling eggs to 16-17-year-old girls by making them unconscious.

The movement recalled that 76 people lost their lives and more than 3,000 were maimed in the Genji Rebellion, which was for the establishment of good governance and the rule of law, and said that it is seriously objectionable to protect criminals and play games over historical sacrifices.

Noting that the Ravi Lamichhane group on 24th of Bhadra broke the prison and drove away the prisoners and created chaos throughout the country, the movement claimed that the planned instability was spread with the aim of creating statelessness and gaining power. The movement reminded that millions of victims of cooperative fraud are still waiting for justice, some have committed suicide and most of them are in mental and physical pain.

The Genji Movement has interpreted any immunity granted to those accused of organized crime as a betrayal of the Genji Rebellion and a serious insult to the victims. "The law should be equal for all, concessions for the powerful and silence for the victims are not acceptable," the statement said.
