Elections for the Speaker's post are being held in Madhesh Province

Janakpurdham. Elections are being held today for the vacant Speaker's post in the Madhesh Pradesh Assembly. Elections for Speaker are about to be held in Madhes province, which has been vacant for more than a month. The Provincial Assembly is scheduled to vote for the election of the new speaker today at 1 pm.

On Saturday, two candidates filed their nominations for the Speaker's post. According to the election schedule issued by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, JSP Nepal chief whip Ram Ashish Yadav and UML's Triloki Prasad filed their nominations as joint candidates of seven parties.

Among the proponents of Ram Ashish Yadav are Birendra Singh of the Congress and Fakira Mahato of the Maoist Center among his supporters. According to him, Yadav's name came forward as a common candidate after the agreement between various parties. Similarly, UML candidate Triloki Prasad has Shardadevi Thapa as his proponent and Jayachandra Prasad Patel as his supporter. Both the proposer and the supporter are UML provincial assembly members, the secretariat informed.
