Election campaigning can be done from today
Kathmandu. It has been officially possible to campaign for the election of members of the House of Representatives from today. There is a provision that only from 15 days before the day of voting, as part of the election campaign, you can hold processions, public meetings, corner meetings and publish or broadcast your election-related materials in the media.
According to the same arrangement, political parties and candidates will be able to conduct election campaigning from today until 12:00 midnight on the 18th of February. Keeping the integrity of the election as a high priority, parties, candidates and all other stakeholders can carry out election campaigning in full compliance with the code of conduct. According to the same arrangement, candidates of political parties will be able to formally ask for votes from the voters.
The commission is deploying various mechanisms for the implementation and monitoring of the code of conduct. It has been made clear that there should be no situation in which the political parties and candidates will be asked for an explanation about the violation of the code of conduct, and legal action should not be taken.
The commission reminded that the code of conduct was formulated after extensive deliberations with political parties and stakeholders. All the political parties have promised that they will fully comply with the code of conduct.
