Development expenditure only 23.58 percent in nine months

Kathmandu. In the nine months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, the government has spent about 54 percent of the budget. The government had brought a budget of 19 trillion 64 billion rupees for the current financial year. Out of that, the government has spent 10 trillion 59 billion of the budget till March, according to the information of the Comptroller General's Office under the Ministry of Finance. 

According to the office, most of the allocated budget has been spent on operational topics. This is the expenditure incurred for the regular operation of the government. This expenditure does not create new wealth or provide long-term returns. Generally, this expenditure reaches 62 percent of the total budget.

This year, the government allocated a budget of 11 trillion 80 billion rupees under the current heading. Out of this, the government has spent 7.47 billion budget till the review period. The government has not been able to spend much on capital. Capital expenditure is spent on roads, bridges, school buildings, hospitals, irrigation, hydropower and long-term infrastructure. The budget has not been spent on such a topic.

Due to the tension in West Asia in particular, construction workers are facing shortage of bitumen fuel. Its impact is seen in capital expenditure. The government had set aside four trillion seven billion rupees to spend in the current fiscal year. Out of this, 96.19 billion has been spent. This expenditure is 23.58 percent of the allocated budget.
