Despite ample imports, gas shortages in the market, consumers still on the line

Kathmandu. In the last two weeks, about 30,000 metric tons of cooking LP gas has been imported into Nepal, businessmen have claimed. According to industrialists, an average of more than 100 bullet gas is being imported daily. However, although the data shows that the supply in the market is sufficient, consumers in various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, are still forced to stand in line to get gas.
At the old office premises of Nepal Oil Corporation in Teku, there is a long queue of consumers coming to exchange gas cylinders every day. Consumers are forced to suffer as they do not get gas from local dealers and shops.
