Demonstration at EPS branch office demanding to be sent to Korea
Kathmandu. A protest has been held at the EPS office in Lalitpur Gwarko, demanding to be sent to South Korea for foreign employment. Two years ago, the young people who were on the roster after passing the language test through the Employment Permit System EPS protested in front of the EPS office saying that there was a delay in sending them to South Korea.
Although thre was an agreement between the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and the protesting parties two months ago, they started the protest saying that even after two months, the government did not proceed with the necessary process.
Rajan Dhungana, a young man from Nuwakota, who passed the language and skill test, said that he was protesting because he could not go to Korea even though two years had passed since he passed the language and skill test. He complained that due to opening the applications of more people than the demand of Korea, the hard working youths are not getting opportunities.
He also said that the state did not proceed with the process of sending people to Korea for employment and put them in double trouble. For the year 2025, 163 thousand people participated in the exam, 17 thousand 30 people passed the language exam. Most of them have not been able to go to Korea because they do not even have a contract yet.
