December 25: 'Christmas Day' is being celebrated today

Kathmandu. Today, followers of that religion are celebrating 'Christmas Day' to commemorate the birthday of Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity. Two thousand and twenty-five years ago today, on December 25th, Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, Israel.

President of Nepal Christian Federation Sibi Gahatraj informed that Jesus Christ, who is said to have been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, gave three main joys. He said that the Christian community celebrates this day as all three days in the belief that it gives salvation, love and peace.

Chairman Gahatraj said that today is celebrated as Love Day for those who came to love people, Peace Day for those who came to establish peace, and Liberation Day for those who came to make peace. He said that Christmas Day, which is celebrated by many people in the world, is celebrated in Nepal as a festival after 2063 by the Federation.

It is reported that the Christmas Festival 2082 was organized this afternoon under the organization of the Federation Main Ceremony Committee. Chairman Gahatraj said that government representatives, officials of concerned bodies, human rights activists and others will be present in the program. On the occasion of the day, a public holiday was given from 2063 to 2074. From 2075 to 2077, only Christians were given leave. Public holiday has been given to everyone since 2078.

Recently, major places in the main cities have been decorated with Christmas trees. Especially in the tourist areas where more tourists come, the Christmas bustle is more in cities like Thamel, Buddh, Pokhara, Sauraha.

According to the federation's claim, there are currently 3 million Christians and more than 13 thousand churches in Nepal.
