Construction of 'Canopy Bridge' on Narayanghat-Butwal road
Narayanghat. In the eastern section of the Butwal road extension project, for the first time in Nepal, an 'overhead canopy bridge' has been constructed to allow monkeys and other tree-dwelling wildlife to cross the road safely.
The structure has been constructed at Pitouji in Gandakot forest of Nawalparasi, Bardghat Susta East under the Narayanghat-Butwal Road Project 9 East Section, giving priority to biological diversity protection.
Shiv Khanal, information officer and engineer of the project, said that the Canopy Bridge was constructed as part of the Biodiversity Conservation and Promotion Program so that the natural movement of wildlife would not be affected after the road was expanded through the forest area.
