Main News Image

Kathmandu. Today is the International Day of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness. This day is being celebrated in different countries of the world with awareness programs related to arms race control, nuclear non-proliferation and peace security. As the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on 7 December 2022 and decided to celebrate 5 March every year as the Day Against Arms Hoarding, this day was officially celebrated for the first time on 5 March 2023.

In the post-Covid-19 global environment, the importance of this day has increased in the context of increasing conflict, increase in military expenditure and the challenge of nuclear risk, which have made the peace process more complicated.
