Kathmandu. The Election Commission has approved the 'House of Representatives Member Election Promotion Bank Account Operation and Management Procedure, 2082' to make the election expenses transparent and frugal. This procedure approved by the Commission on this Tuesday is said to be introduced with the aim of controlling, monitoring and disciplining campaign expenses incurred by political parties and candidates in the House of Representatives election.

According to the procedure, political parties and candidates must open separate bank accounts for election campaigning. For that, it has been arranged that the political party should submit an application to the Secretariat of the Commission and the candidates to the relevant election office in the prescribed format. Along with the application, the official letter of the party, the candidate's candidacy certificate or identity card, the signature sample card of the relevant bank and the citizenship certificate of the account holder must be submitted.

Banks and financial institutions will open accounts only after the commission or election office checks the documents and recommends them. The information about the opening of the account must be given to the Commission, the Election Office and the Office of the Controller of Finance and Accounts.
