Call for applications from participating parties towards a proportional electoral system
Kathmandu. The Election Commission has called upon the political parties who want to participate in the elections towards the proportional electoral system for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to submit applications. The Commission has published a notice today and requested political parties who want to participate in the system from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the 23rd of November, as per the approved election schedule, as the program for the said system will start from Saturday.
The commission has already established the election officer's office at the commission's Kantipath office for proportional election system since last Sunday. Mahadev Panth, secretary of the commission, has been designated as the election officer for this system.
The commission will publish the list of political parties that have submitted applications from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on this 24th of Mangsar. Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the commission, informed that the political parties who have applied in this way will submit the closed list of candidates from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the 13th and 14th of January. There are now 90 days left for the date of the election to be held on February 21.
According to the election program for the first person to be elected, the nomination papers of the candidates will be registered on January 6th. The list of candidates is scheduled to be published on the same day. The time to file a complaint against the candidature has been fixed on January 7.
