Call for a United Cultural Movement as Janasanskritik Federation Forms 75-Member Koshi Province Committee
Sunsari — The unity convention of the Janasanskritik Federation Nepal (Koshi Province) concluded successfully at Durga Party Palace in Itahari, Sunsari, with the formation of a 75-member provincial committee. Progressive writer and academic Prof. Dr. Khem Raj Khanal was elected as the Provincial Coordinator, while people's artist Khushbu Rai was selected as the Co-coordinator.
According to the federation, the newly formed committee includes representatives from all 14 districts of Koshi Province as well as seven affiliated cultural organizations. These include the People's Literature Association, People's Artists Association, People's Theatre Association, Progressive Filmmakers Association, History and Sociology Association, Language and Folklore Association, and Fine Arts Association.
Addressing the gathering, Chiran Pun, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Nepal Communist Party and Central In-charge of the federation, emphasized the need for writers, artists, and cultural activists to strengthen the movement for social transformation through literature, music, art, and culture. He also stressed the importance of embracing modern technology to make cultural activities more effective and relevant to changing times.
Central Coordinator Bhim Kumakhi highlighted the importance of organizational unity, ideological clarity, and building a strong and united cultural movement. Provincial In-charge Ghanraj Subba, outgoing Chairperson Chetnath Dhamala, and other speakers also called for greater unity among progressive cultural workers and urged them to resist division within the movement.
Newly elected Provincial Coordinator Prof. Dr. Khem Raj Khanal pledged to make the federation more active, dynamic, and effective both ideologically and organizationally. The convention concluded with a strong message calling on all progressive writers, artists, and cultural workers to remain united against fragmentation and work collectively to strengthen Nepal's people's cultural movement.
