Asset laundering case filed against life in 61 kg gold smuggling case
Kathmandu. A case of money laundering has been filed in the Kathmandu District Court against Jeevan, the director of Mashta Group Pvt Ltd, involved in the 61 kg gold smuggling case. The Asset Clearance Department filed a case against him. In the investigation, it was found that he used the money obtained from illegal gold smuggling to purchase 32 plots of land in Jhapa, Kathmandu, Rautahat and Kavrepalanchok.
According to the indictment, it has been confirmed that he laundered a total amount of more than 2.7 billion rupees from illegal sources. His relationship with Belgian citizen Dawa Chiring is also seen. In the charge sheet filed by the department, it is said, 'The total amount of the purchase price is 1,45,54,03,948 rupees and the price of 60 kg 716 grams of gold illegally imported from abroad at the current price of 1,12,500 rupees per tola is 58,56,09,568 rupees and the number in his name in the Himalayan Bank. 002105500190013, it has been confirmed that the total amount of 2,07,62,13,516 rupees, which is 3,52,00,000 rupees, which was obtained from the crime and collected and transferred by force, has been cleared by the defendant.
On July 3, the Revenue Investigation Department recovered the gold hidden inside the brake pad of the motorcycle. Later, the investigation was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) and it was concluded that 302 kg of gold had been smuggled. In this case, a case related to gold customs theft, smuggling and organized crime has been filed against 29 people, including claim fraud, fraud. The committee has also recommended action against some police officers involved in the investigation and cases against some political and foreign related persons.
