Ashwin Shukla Saptami: Flower pots are being brought into homes today
Kathmandu. On the seventh day of Navratri, Dasain is being worshiped properly in the house or in the pooja room of Kalaratri Devi, the seventh of the nine Durgas. Every year on Ashwin Shukla Saptami i.e. the seventh day of Durga Paksha, there is a Vedic Sanatani tradition of ritually worshiping Goddess Kalaratri. Time destroys animals. It is believed that Goddess Bhagwati destroys such periods. This form of Goddess is called Kalaratri. It has been mentioned in various Puranas that Kalaratri is of Krishna Varna and she has a terrible shape.
On the first day of Navratri, on Sunday 15th of October, barley jamra was kept in the house or in the worship room according to the Vedic ritual. On the same day, Shailputri, the first goddess among the nine Durgas, was duly worshiped at the place where it was installed.
On the second day, on Monday, Brahmacharini Devi was invoked and ritually worshiped at the place of worship, and on the third day, Chandraghanta Devi was worshiped with devotion. Kushmanda Devi was duly worshiped on Wednesday on the fourth day, while Skandamata was worshiped on Thursday on the fifth day and Katyayani Devi was worshiped on Friday on the sixth day.
