Kathmandu. On the eve of the upcoming February 21 election, outgoing Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba went to Singapore for medical treatment on Wednesday. He left for Singapore at 11 pm on Singapore Airlines flight number SQ441. Deuba is not sure about returning to the country before the election. Earlier, there was talk that Deuba might go to his home district to vote.
I have reeived information that he went to Singapore due to health problems. However, I am not aware of the date of his return,' Naing Singh Mahar, a Congress leader and Congress member candidate from Dadeldhura, Deuba's home district, told Naya Patrika. Deuba is accompanied by his personal secretary Bhanu Deuba. Deuba's wife and former foreign minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba is in India.
No official information has been given by his secretariat or the Congress regarding Deuba's flight to Singapore. However, it is viewed with interest within the Congress. "The former president does not seem to be in the mood to appeal to vote in favor of the party in the election, it is not even certain that he will go to Dadeldhura to vote," said another Congress leader close to him, "There is also talk of whether he will return on February 19, but it has not been decided."
