Action will be taken against those who charge admission and discretionary fees before the start of the new academic session: Ministry of Education

Kathmandu. The government has warned of taking strict action against schools that admit students before the start of the academic session and charge irregular fees. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology issued a statement today and instructed all local levels to enroll students only after the start of the new academic session and to implement the Institutional School Fee Determination Standards Guideline 2072. The Ministry has also instructed the local level to initiate the legal process to immediately return the illegally collected admission fees to the parents.

"All schools are requested to enroll students only after the commencement of the new academic session in accordance with the law and order of the Supreme Court, and to make arrangements not to collect fees other than those prescribed by the Institutional School Fee Determination Standards Guideline, 2072, and to prevent such illegal activities from taking place from any school, and to proceed with the legal process to refund the amount of admission fees collected from parents in a manner contrary to the law", said the statement issued by the Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry, Shiv Kumar Sapkota.
