A traffic week aimed at reducing accidents will be observed
Kathmandu. In order to reduce traffic accidents, Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has organized a special campaign to reduce traffic accidents and traffic week. The office held a press conference on Thursday and informed that traffic week will be celebrated by conducting various awareness programs until January 3rd.
According to SP Nareshraj Subedi, Information Officer of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the campaign will be launched on Friday with a blood donation program. As part of the campaign, teaching pedestrians how to cross the road safely, two-wheeler motorcycle and scooter awareness program, sticking stickers on vehicles, traffic awareness program for school and college students will be conducted. The campaign includes inauguration of traffic lights, tea program with drivers, health camp with one-day eye health examination of drivers, road cleaning, tree trimming, mechanical and pollution testing of vehicles.
Likewise, traffic police personnel will be trained on conduct, behavior and precautions to be taken during duty. SP Subedi said that there will be a surprise joint check-in at the places where there are more accidents in the valley, at the main intersections and junctions, there will also be a musical program with miking about the causes of the accidents and the resulting consequences. Publicity and awareness material will also be published through social media such as Tiktok, Facebook and Twitter about the program of Traffic Week.
