A landslide blocked the river and turned it into a lake towards Nepal, warning from China that it may burst within 3 days
Kathmandu. According to China's Ministry of Water Resources, a large landslide lake has formed near the confluence of Chogen River and Purepu Sangpo River in Nepal. By Thursday morning, about two million cubic meters of water had accumulated in the lake and the water flowing out of the lake had started overflowing.
It is estimated that three million cubic meters of water will accumulate in the lake within the next three days, due to which there is a high risk of bursting or exploding, China Central Television reported on Thursday, according to China's official mouthpiece Global Times
The ministry is closely monitoring the condition of the lake. Also, it is providing necessary support and preparation for emergency rescue operations by forecasting and analyzing possible floods that may occur if the lake bursts.
