4 persons of human trafficking were arrested in various incidents, victims were rescued
Kathmandu. The police have arrested four defendants involved in human trafficking and trafficking incidents on different dates. Investigations have been started against them in separate incidents and the victims have also been rescued, police said.
30-year-old Vasna Maya Yonjan of Bakaiya rural municipality-12 of Makwanpur was arrested on the charge of forcing her to engage in sexual exploitation. Preliminary investigation has revealed that he took the victim to a restaurant in Lalitpur on the pretext of getting her to work and forced her to perform sexual activities with various customers. Later, the police rescued the victim in a situation where she was lured into prostitution by showing fear and financial greed, showing the lure of work.
Similarly, 23-year-old Ayush KC of Kathmandu Chandragiri-14 is accused of forcing a young woman to Cambodia in an online scam after being lured by foreign employment. He was taken to Cambodia via India by collecting three lakh rupees saying that he would get a job with a monthly salary of one lakh rupees. After reaching there, passports and mobile phones were taken into custody and taken as hostages. Later, the victim managed to escape and return to Nepal.
Similarly, 56-year-old Sushma Tamang of Dolakha and 42-year-old Hari Shamsher Rayamazhi of Dhading have been arrested on charges of renting a room in Kalanki area of Kathmandu and forcing eight women and minors into prostitution. It has been observed that they are forced to have physical contact with the client on a daily basis by showing various temptations and fears. The police team has raided and rescued all the victims. According to the police, investigation is being carried out against all the arrested defendants by the relevant district court.
