250 missing in Indian Ocean boat accident
Kathmandu. About 250 people have gone missing when a boat on its way from Bangladesh to Malaysia crashed in the Andaman Sea on the eastern coast of the Indian Ocean. According to the United Nations Refugee and Migration Agency, Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals were injured in the accident.
According to the BBC, the fishing boat was on its way to Malaysia from Bangladesh. It is said that the boat sank due to high speed wind, bad sea conditions and more passengers on board. According to the information given by the Bangladesh Coast Guard to the news agency AFP, on April 9, one of their ships rescued nine people who were in an accident.
It is said that it is not clear when the boat crashed. Rohingya is a minority community in Myanmar. After the violence in 2017, they fled to Bangladesh in large numbers.
