20 Nepalis were rescued from Cambodia and returned home
Kathmandu. 20 Nepalis who were engaged in illegal activities including online fraud and were living without visas in Cambodia have been rescued and returned to their home country. They were rescued by the initiative of the Nepali Embassy in Thailand and with the help of the Cambodian government and returned to their country today. They were lured by various people and reached Cambodia through various means and were subjected to online fraud in illegal 'online scamming' centers and casinos.
According to the embassy, information has been received that Nepali citizens have been engaged in illegal work, including online fraud, and are staying without a visa or overstaying their visa. The embassy said that there have been many complaints that the passports of those employed in scamming centers are confiscated by the company or passports are lost during transfer from the scamming center.
