176 people arrested for anti-election activities, security tightened

Kathmandu. The police headquarters informed that 176 people involved in anti-election activities were arrested from all over the country. Central spokesperson of Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police Avinarayan Kafle informed that 176 people were arrested for anti-election activities, spreading 'misinformation' and 'disinformation' and burning vehicles. 

According to him, due to tight and effective security, two vehicles were burnt in Kathmandu at night, but no other incidents of a serious nature related to the election took place.  Spokesman Kafle informed that the police have reached all polling stations and security has been strengthened.  He said, "All-party and all-party meetings have been held in the district polling stations to tighten security. Mobile and reserve teams have been coordinated with other security mechanisms to strengthen election security with high morale. Those who misuse technology and social media and violate the silence period are being identified and specially monitored and controlled."

He also informed that the Inspector General of Police, Dan Bahadur Karki, has instructed the subordinate agencies to monitor the Central Election Cell and conduct special surveillance on border security during the silent period. According to the police, five fake items kept in various parts of the country were found and deactivated by the army.
