130,000 full-time policemen will be recruited for election security

Kathmandu. 130,000 full-time policemen are going to be recruited for the upcoming House of Representatives elections. The meeting of the Central Security Committee held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Home Minister Omprakash Aryal has decided to hire that number of fixed-term police for election security. The committee has decided to mobilize 314,000 security personnel for the security of the House of Representatives election to be held on August 21.

According to Ministry of Home Affairs sources, about 79,000 Nepali Army, 72,000 Nepal Police, 33,000 Armed Police and 130,000 Manpower of Madi Police will be mobilized for election security. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the election security action plan has been approved by the Election Commission after finalizing the voter list, polling places and polling centers, the number of security personnel to be mobilized will be slightly reduced and now around 3.5 million will be deployed.

Anand Kafle, spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs informed that the next election security plan has been formulated based on the 2079 House of Representatives election and the changing challenges. The Security Committee meeting approved the 'Integrated Security Plan-2082' and decided to mobilize the Army, Police, Armed Police, National Investigation Department and Madi Police for the elections on Sunday.

With the security action plan approved by the security committee, now the National Security Council has to recommend to the Cabinet for the deployment of the army. In order to mobilize the army, the President must approve the decision of the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the National Security Council chaired by the Prime Minister. With the approval of the integrated action plan, security personnel will be mobilized targeting the elections from December 10.
