Demand to Arrest Deuba at the Airport, Gen Z to Gather at 11 AM

Kathmandu. Gen Z Movement Nepal has urged the government to take former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba into custody at the airport and initiate an impartial investigation against him. The Gen Z group has demanded an immediate investigation into publicly reported claims that a large amount of domestic and foreign currency was found at Deuba’s residence.

In a press statement issued by Vijay Shah of Gen Z Movement Nepal, the group called for a fair and transparent investigation into the questions publicly raised against Deuba. The statement also mentioned various cases, including Widebody, Ncell, fake Bhutanese refugee and Melamchi-related controversies, stating that anyone found guilty should be punished according to the law.

“If the law is equal for everyone, Deuba should be taken into custody at the airport in accordance with the law and an investigation should be initiated,” the statement said.

Gen Z Movement Nepal has also warned that it will resist any attempt by the government to influence investigations in the name of political protection. Referring to the deaths of 76 people and injuries to thousands of young people during the movement, the statement warned that a repetition of the old culture of impunity would further weaken public trust.

As Deuba is expected to return to Nepal, the Gen Z group has called on its supporters to gather at Tribhuvan International Airport at 11 AM today. They said they would gather peacefully at the airport to pressure the government to conduct an impartial investigation.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the government is preparing to strengthen security arrangements at the airport. The Gen Z group, however, has claimed that its program will be peaceful and warned that the government would be responsible for any suppression by the state.
