Kathmandu.The ICC Women's T-20 World Cup Qualifying Cricket Tournament is starting today in Kathmandu. A total of 10 nations, including three Test nations Bangladesh, Ireland and Zimbabwe, are competing with the goal of making it to the next World Cup.
From this selection, a total of four nations will make it to the World Cup to be held jointly in England and Wales from next June. In a press conference held with the captains on Saturday before the start of the qualifying tournament, Indu Verma, the captain of the Nepali national women's cricket team, said that her team is ready for the World Cup qualifiers to be held at home.
Indu mentioned that Nepal has been working hard for this moment for 18 years and expressed her hope that the tournament will show the best cricket possible. She also said that all the players are ready and excited for this tournament.
She mentioned that she is happy to play with the big nation of world cricket. Captain Indu also said that she was able to learn how to turn the game in her favor when playing against a big team from the matches against Scotland and Ireland. He believes that it will have an impact in the upcoming qualifiers. She says that the training is good and the confidence of the players is also increasing.
