Kathmandu. With a thrilling victory over South Africa, Canada has entered the last 16 of the ongoing FIFA World Cup Football 2026 pre-quarterfinals. In the first knockout match at the Los Angeles Stadium in America on Monday, Canada stunned South Africa with a 1-0 goal difference and decided to advance to the previous round.
Stephen Eustaquio became a hero to give Canada a historic success. The best goal he scored in the second half of the extra time 9 injury time 0 proved to be decisive for the team. Canada, which is participating in the World Cup for the third time in its new history, has managed to reach the last 16 for the first time. In previous editions, Canada was eliminated from the group stage.
Earlier, Canada, the runner-up of Group 'B' and South Africa, the runner-up of Group 'A', faced each other in the knockout stage round of 16. With the win, Canada made their World Cup journey even more exciting while South Africa crashed out of the tournament.
