We will not go to elections without a directly elected executive system: Miraj Dhungana
Kathmandu. Miraj Dhungana, coordinator of the 'Garikhan Deu' campaign, has pointed out the need to engage in development politics for the country's prosperity and forward-looking changes. He said that everyone should be serious in protecting the achievements made by the sacrifice of 76 people in the historical uprising on 23rd and 24th of Bhadra. Speaking at a special press conference held in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dhungana mentioned that the era of development, not revolution, has begun. It is very important to fight for the country. What happened now, a label revolution happened, now comes development. We are not revolutionaries, we are evolutionists," Dhungana said.
He also reiterated the demand to give voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad. Where will the country go after leaving 8 million Nepalis out of 30 million Nepalis? The country's main source of income is remittances. It will be unfair to go to the election without giving the right to vote to the Nepalis living abroad after shedding blood and sweat," he said. Dhungana demanded a directly elected executive system and warned that they will not go to the polls until the demand is met.
