Vivah Panchami Mahotsav: Rama Sita's wedding is over, today is Rama Kaleva
Janakpur. On the sixth day of the week-long Vivah Panchami festival, the Swayamvar of Mother Sita and the auspicious marriage were completed on Tuesday. The marriage of Mother Sita and Lord Rama according to the Maithili tradition has been completed in the presence of lakhs of devotees in the courtyard of the historic Janaki temple in Janakpurdham late on Tuesday night.
Lakhs of devotees from India and Nepal were present in the Janaki temple decorated like a bride. Tourists from different walks of life also flocked. Mata Sita's self-immolation was performed on Tuesday afternoon at the Bahrvigha Maidan. At that time, flowers were showered on Bahrvigha ground, Janaki temple and Ram temple by helicopter.
Today is Ramakaleva, the last day of Vivahpanchami festival. In this method, all the baratis who came from Ayodhya are fed 56 bunjans and sent off with dakshina. In memory of Lord Rama and Mother Sita, Vivah Panchami is celebrated with great pomp every year in Janakpurdham.
