US-Iran Talks on Islamabad: High-Level Efforts for Permanent Ceasefire
Kathmandu. High-level talks between the United States and Iran have begun in Pakistan's capital Islamabad for a permanent ceasefire and peace amid the long-standing war and tensions. After a two-week temporary ceasefire, representatives of both sides arrived in the acity today for talks.
Three topics have been given priority in this time's talks. A commitment has been sought with Iran to make the temporary cease-fire permanent and to end the military clashes completely, to keep the Hormuz waterway safe and open, which is considered important for the global oil supply. The US has set the condition that Iran's ability to make nuclear weapons and its stockpile of highly enriched uranium should be completely eliminated.
