UML Convention: 400 votes were cast till 12 noon
Kathmandu. The 11th Congress of the Nepal Communist Party UML is now voting for the new leadership. In the ongoing polling at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, voting is being done on electronic voting machines arranged by the party's Central Election Commission.
Rajendra Gautam, head of UML's central campaign department, informed that about 400 votes had fallen by 12:00 noon in the voting which started at 9:30 am today. According to him, 642 candidates are competing for the 301-member central committee, including 19 officials of UML, while there are 2,263 representatives.
The current president KP Sharma Oli and senior vice president Ishwar Pokharel are competing for the position of president. Supporters and well-wishers of various candidates inside and outside the convention venue have intensified their campaigning in their own style. Campaigning has been done on the streets of the exhibition route with songs and cultural performances. Due to this, the traffic of the exhibition route has been affected.
