Tourist traffic will not stop even on election days

Kathmandu. On the day of election of members of the House of Representatives, a special permit system has been implemented to ensure that the movement of tourists is not affected. According to the 'Vehicle Permit Procedure, 2082' issued by the Election Commission of Nepal, it has been arranged that vehicles carrying tourists on the election day must obtain a permit at least two days in advance.
The Commission has presented it as an effort to maintain a balance between security management and tourism services. According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the Commission, as international and domestic flights are operated regularly, vehicle operation is necessary to transport tourists from the airport to the hotel or destination.
He said that the permit system was implemented keeping this requirement in mind. Permission has to be obtained from the Commission for vehicles operating within Kathmandu Valley, while in other districts approval is given through the relevant administration office.
