Kathmandu. Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority SLTDA has launched a special campaign to meet its national tourism goals for 2026, senior official Buddhika Hewasam said on Friday. SLTDA President Hewasam said promotional campaigns focused on key European markets will be launched to attract visitors during months when tourists are traditionally low.

He noted that as part of a comprehensive tourism strategy, Sri Lanka has recently launched promotional programs in major Indian cities to attract more visitors by diversifying the country's Indian tourist base.

He stated that Sri Lanka had a strong start in 2026 by reporting that more than 94 thousand tourists arrived in the first week of January 2026.
