Today is World Rural Development Day

Kathmandu. World Rural Development Day is celebrated on July 6 every year. This day is celebrated by honoring the contribution made by rural communities in food security, poverty reduction, agricultural production and sustainable development.

The United Nations General Assembly formally recognized July 6 as World Rural Development Day on September 6, 2024. Its purpose is to draw the attention of the world community to the challenges of poverty, inequality and development in rural areas, as well as to encourage investment in agriculture, infrastructure, education, health, climate adaptation and employment.
