Today is Prithvi Jayanti, a public holiday across the country
Kathmandu. The 304th birth anniversary of nation builder Prithvi Narayan Shah is being celebrated today with various programs. Various programs are being held today on the occasion of Shah's birth anniversary and National Unity Day, who was born in 1779. On the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti, the government has declared a public holiday across the country today.
Commemorating the contribution made by Shah, the leader of the unification campaign of modern Nepal, in the unification campaign of the nation, as usual, even today, flowers are offered to Prithvi Narayan's salik in front of the west door of the main administrative building, Singh Darbar. On the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti and National Unity Day, the Vice President, Speaker, leaders of various parties and various distinguished personalities of the nation have issued greetings messages.
The Nepali Army has also been showing respect by placing wreaths on the full-size statue of the nation builder in the military headquarters building, Jangia-Adda complex every year on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti. The then king of Gorkha, Shah Shah, who united the Baise and Chaubise kingdoms scattered with the enthusiastic support and participation of the people amid various social, economic and geographical challenges, died in 1831 at the age of 52.
