Mahottari Tihar festival, the second biggest festival of Nepali, is starting from today. In the ancient Mithila region including Mahottari in Madhes, there is a tradition of celebrating Dhanteras by lighting a lamp in the evening on the first day of this festival. This festival, which is celebrated for five days from Trayodashi Tithi of Kattik Krishna Paksha to Kattik Shukla Paksha, has become six days this time.

In the Mithila tradition, on the day of Trayodashi Tithi of Kattik Krishna Paksha, there is a custom of lighting lamps in the evening and buying new metal utensils or jewelery at home.
