Third day of Navratri: Special worship of Chandraghanta Devi is performed
Kathmandu. On the third day of Navratri, Chandraghanta, the third goddess of Navadurga, is being ritually worshiped in the Dasainghar or Puja room. Chandraghanta, the third goddess of Navadurga, holds a bell with the base of the moon in her hand, so it is mentioned in various mythology and scriptures that her name is Chandraghanta.
Toyraj Nepal, a retired professor of Nepal Sanskrit University Valmiki Vidyapeeth, said that special worship is done on the occasion of Navratri because the worship of the goddess gives power. In the Markandeya Purana, it is mentioned that 'Chandrah Ghantayan Yasyaha Sa' means the name of the person whose hour the moon is in is Chandraghanta. Chandraghanta Devi has a crescent moon on her head as well as a bell, so this name has persisted.
