Kathmandu. The Judicial Council has rejected the Council's request for writing to the Election Commission to approve the appointment of judges on the basis of seniority. The Commission has written to the Judicial Council not to appoint judges saying that the Election Code of Conduct has been implemented.

The Judicial Council Secretariat had written to the Council last week regarding the appointment of judges. In response, the commission wrote to the council not to appoint a judge. Only a few weeks ago, district judges who passed the public service competition were appointed. They are in the process of being appointed. The Judicial Council had written to the commission to appoint judges on the basis of seniority apart from the examination.

But the commission has decided that the election code of conduct has been implemented since January 4, and in that case, judges cannot be appointed by the judicial council.
