The Election Commission received 6 billion 73 million rupees
Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance has revised and increased the approved budget for the House of Representatives elections. The Commission had requested a budget of 7.81 billion rupees for the election, but the Ministry of Finance cut it by 40 percent and approved only 4.96 billion rupees. Dissatisfied with this, the commission wrote to the government for review.
Recently, the Ministry of Finance has approved a budget of 6.73 billion rupees by adding 1.77 billion rupees. According to the spokesperson of the Commission, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the Commission has adopted a strategy to spend the elections in a frugal manner.
The commission has planned to spend the budget on 49 headings and has already sent the allocated budget to 77 district election offices. The District Election Office has been entrusted with the purchase of 37 materials for the election.
