The Commission took the statement of former Inspector General Khapung

Kathmandu. The commission of inquiry formed to investigate the incidents that took place on August 23 and 24 has taken the statement of the then Inspector General of Police Chandrakuber Khapung. The Commission took a statement from Khapung at Singh Darbar on Thursday. He is accused of using excessive force on August 23 and failing to protect public property on August 24.

Next week, the Commission has prepared to take statements from the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Home Minister Ramesh Oli and the political leadership.

The three-month term of the commission is expiring on January 9. Prime Minister Sushila Karki has already extended the deadline by one month at the request of the commission. Meanwhile, a writ petition has been registered in the Supreme Court against the 10-point agreement between the government and Genji on November 24.
