The commission sought to ensure peace, security and resources for the elections
Kathmandu. Election Commission, Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Nepal Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that the government should first ensure peace and security for the purpose of creating an electoral environment. In the discussion on strengthening of federalism and preparations for the elections held in the National Affairs Committee on Friday, he said that there is no other option but to go to the elections in the present situation and said that the government should ensure peace and security and resources for that.
He said, "In the present situation, we have no other option but to go to the elections." Rather than what preconditions are needed to go to the elections, the government should first ensure peace and security for the purpose of creating an electoral environment. Second resources and means had to be ensured. The government should be able to convince that there is ease in the election process and that the election will not be disrupted under any circumstances and that no one will have to reach the polling place with a sense of insecurity.'
Similarly, he said that while the date of the election has been announced within the constitution, the periodical election cannot be reached and the election should not be held.
