Thapa was elected unopposed as the President of Nepali Congress

Kathmandu. Gagan Kumar Thapa has been elected unopposed as the President of Nepali Congress. Central Election Committee Coordinator Sitaram KC informed that Thapa was elected unopposed to the post of party chairman on Wednesday from the second special convention of supporters held in Kathmandu.

"Since Thapa was the only candidate for the post of chairman, I declare that he was elected unopposed", said coordinator KC while announcing the election results. After being elected as the chairman, Thapa addressed the leaders, workers and well-wishers present at the Bhrikutimandap, the special convention venue.
