Supreme Court order to release ex-minister Gupta on bail
Kathmandu. The Supreme Court overturned the special court's order to send former federal affairs and general administration minister Rajkumar Gupta to prison in the Lichibari land corruption case of Pokhara and released him on bail. The joint bench of Supreme Court Judge Sharanga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel overruled the order of the special court and ordered to demand bail.
Spokesman of the Supreme Court, district registrar Arjun Prasad Koirala said that although there is an order to demand bail, the bail amount will be known on Wednesday as no written order has been received. Earlier, on 16 January 2082, a special court bench consisting of Judge Sudarshandev Bhatt, Dilliratna Shrestha and Vidur Koirala had ordered the detention of former minister Gupta and the investigation.
