Solving the problem in the Melamchi water supply project

Kathmandu. The problem in the Melamchi water supply project has been resolved. According to the agreement reached in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation late on Tuesday, the problem related to water diversion of the project has been resolved. According to the agreement, the demands placed from time to time by various stakeholders such as local level, local social upliftment program committees, flood affected struggle committee, local vendors and tenants in the project affected areas will be considered.

"After the issuance of the Melamchi Water Supply Development Committee formation order, 2079, due to the technical complications seen in the process of disbursement of capital funds from the Ministry of Finance, a draft will be prepared and submitted to the relevant body for revision, based on the written consent received from the local level to clear the issue that funds have not been disbursed since 2079 (80) until now," the agreement said.

For that, the facts will be collected through the District Disaster Management Committee chaired by the Chief District Officer of Sindhupalchok District Administration Office. The Ministry of Home Affairs will be requested to proceed with the process for relief and compensation.
