Shri Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated with reverence and devotion all over the country

Main News Image

Kathmandu. Devotees of the Vedic Sanatan religion are celebrating 'Shrikrishna Janmashtami' today by worshiping Lord Krishna. As the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is considered the pioneer of Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga, Shri Krishna was born in the midnight of Bhadrakrishna Ashtami in Dwapara Yuga. Therefore, today's day is called Sri Krishna Janmashtami and the night is called 'Mohratri'.

Shri Krishna, who inspired the human community for the end of injustice and demonic tendencies by standing on the side of truth throughout his life, showed many activities from his childhood. It is believed that he destroyed demonic tendencies like Putana, Kansa, Jarasandha and Shishupala. 'Shrimad Bhagavad Gita' containing the sermon he gave to Arjuna in the battle of Kurukshetra is considered a holy book which has been translated into many languages in the world.

On this day, worshipers, bhajankirtans and sermons are organized in Krishna temples across the country and devotees observe fasts and stay awake all night.

On the occasion of the festival, there is a huge throng of devotees at the famous Krishna temple at Patan in Lalitpur, Navatandham at Kageshwari Manohara and small (big) Krishna temples across the country.

Various religious organizations are taking out processions and chariot processions with tableaus of Shri Krishna. On the occasion of the festival, the government has declared a public holiday across the country today.
