Severe fire in Khasa area, Tatopani crossing is completely closed from today

Kathmandu. Nepal-China northern trade border Tatopani has been completely closed from today after a severe fire broke out in the border forest of Nyalam Khasa region of China. The Chinese administration has banned all traffic through the border saying that the security risk has increased. Jagat Bahadur Rai, police inspector of the area police office, Kodari, informed that the fire that started in the 'Chobin' area including the middle part of Nyalam and Khasa on Sunday night has not been brought under control. 

According to Rai, as the fire spread, the movement of goods vehicles along with local and tourist traffic has also been stopped. According to him, the sky in the surrounding areas including Liping and Tatopani, which are connected to the border crossing, is covered with smoke and ash, and communication and network services in the border area have also been affected by the fire.
